When Marines get together

Apparently, if you put Marines in a room together for any real length of time, certain things happen. Drinking will ensue, even if people don’t normally drink. Language will become more colorful without anyone even notice, until of course someone calls their parents and says fuck multiple times before even noticing it. lol

Carrie is also sick of acronyms that make no sense to her. She does find it amusing how our eyes light up when it comes to certain memories. She’ll never understand why we want to own an M16. Nor does she understand why we want an NCO sword but don’t feel right buying one (neither of us rates one – both lance corporals). She’s horribly annoyed at all the posturing that goes on, with everyone having to show how strong they are, even when they’re hurting. Apparently that goes away when Marines are in their 50’s and then can be physical and love everyone. Personally, I had hoped we could skip past some of this posturing myself, because I just feel life is too short to waste fighting intimacy for lack of a better word. Perhaps we can all come to a group dynamic that involves a balance of sincerity and shit talking. I can say that here because neither of them read this.

Anyway, that’s just one of the many discussions we’ve had today. Now I better write something on my thesis outline.
