Alligator dream

There was a lot of stuff going on in my dreams last night, but the part I remember more distinctly was the part where the alligators came into play.  I was in an apartment type building.  There were quite a few people around, and I was a story or so up.  I looked down from the small balcony into a stream.  I saw an alligator coming up the stream.  I told other people, and got my camera.  There ended up being four of them total, and they were huge.  At one point they were lined up, all four facing up stream.  They were so big they took up the entire stream basically.  I tried to take a picture because it was so cool looking, but a girl bumped me.  I shoved her back because it pissed me off.  They already moved by the time I could take another picture.

The next time I looked down there was one directly below me in the stream.  It had to be 15 feet long or so, just huge to me.  Then the dream got wierd again, because it came out of the water and could stand on it’s tail or something.  I tried to get everyone away from the balcony.  I had to grab monkey very quickly, and he scratched me in the process, but I was able to get the window closed before the thing could attack.  I have no idea how it could reach us a story up at least, but who knows.  So that was very odd.

As a quick side note, carrie also dreamt about alligators or crocodiles, but in her dream they were chasing her.  They actually chased her up a tree where they tried to climb up and get her.

Does this dream apply to both of us or was there just an overlap?  It seems to be saying there are people who are hunting us down, waiting for their chance to strike.  But maybe I’m completely missing the point.  I really don’t know.  I can see how we will be targets in the future, as we become more and more successful, but I don’t see why we’d be targeted now.  hmm…

Snow day!

Technically an ice day I suppose.  What does it mean when the first day of school is cancelled?  It means I have more time to catch up the research I didn’t do this weekend.  Hooray!

It’s been a busy few days.  Carrie had a very difficult weekend, due in part to her medication or lack thereof.  We’re working through it however.  We went to see Children of Men yesterday, and it was quite interesting.  There are so many themes in the movie it’s hard to see which is most important.  However, fair warning should be given for people who don’t like war scenes.  There is a huge shootout that happens which is very realistic.  The only disappointing aspect was the very end.  We’re pretty sure the projector jumped, because we went from a normal scene to a very abrupt end screen.  I guess we’ll have to rent it to see what the final scene actually is.

Today I’m amazed at some people.  On livejournal there are assholes asking if places are delivering.  I can call them assholes because if you don’t feel like it’s safe to be on the road, you shouldn’t be asking someone else to risk their life to bring you a pizza.  And if you don’t have any food in your house, quite simply you’re a moron because they’ve been saying this storm is coming for days.  It’s not a suprise, so you simply didn’t prepare.  In ancient times you would starve to death and your stupidity would leave the gene pool.

Is that not spiritual of me?  I don’t know… lol  I’m big on personal responsibility.  My spirituality is based pretty much entirely on personal responsibility.  We’re creating our world, our experience, everything is created by us.  It annoys me when people want to pass of their own incompentence and make someone else pay for it.  Grow up or starve.  I find it hard to believe that people have nothing at all in their house to eat.  So, it’s call survival.  Look at what you have and figure out how to make it.  You won’t starve and you’ll really appreciate that pizza you’ll eat tomorrow night.

I know I should have compassion…and sure, it sucks to realize you’re an idiot and didn’t prepare at all for a day and a half of ice, but it’s time to grow up and take care of yourself. Now if that person were to realize that it’s idiotic to ask someone else to risk their life for your pizza, and you then go to your cupboards and see what you can make, then I’m cool.  I can very quickly release my annoyance when you change your behaviors to show that you’ve learned something from the experience.

Just as a note, I don’t think anyone is delivering anyway.  At least these companies are smart enough to not risk their drivers.  So now, please, everyone pull your head out of your ass and look around you.  How can you make it through today without endangering anyone else?  Take this as an opportunity to evaluate how you live, and what would happen if there were a suprise storm that force you to stay in your house for 2 days.  Could you live comfortably?  I don’t mean to be harsh, but I’m sick of seeing 20 somethings who can’t take care of themselves.

Let’s balance this out with the things I’m thankful for today.  I’m thankful for the very light dusting of snow on top of the ice.  The whiteness is very nice.  :-)   I’m thankful for the cold air that reminds me of home.  For the little bird that came to visit our dying tomato plant.  It decided it didn’t want a tomato apparently.  I think it’s time to get a bird feeder :-)   I’m thankful that we have a nice big stock pot to heat water in.  We don’t have hot water, but wiping down with a hot washcloth is almost as nice as taking a hot shower.  I feel refreshed now.

I better go, because the lights just flickered a few times.  Who knows how long we’ll keep power today, but I’m thankful for it while it’s here :-)
