I really need to watch what I say! A few months back, someone broke into my car. I know I had to have blogged about it, but can’t find it now. Anyway, there was a pattern at that time. The third time back, they only got my face plate. The next time, they got nothing at all. I jokingly said, next time they’ll leave us something. Guess what…
They fucking did!
We were leaving to pick up some Bose headphones from someone on Craig’s list (they’re pretty cool by the way) and I see my vent glass is broke…again. So I start looking. My radio is there. In fact, everything appears to be there, including the cd’s I had under the seat. So what were they looking for?! Anyway, I noticed a radio on the passenger floor, so I had to go look. I thought it was my old stereo, but that wasn’t in my car. And, this is one I’ve never seen before. Someone left me a fucking cheap ass tape player/radio! So now I have to call the cops so they can pick it up, since no one else had their car broke into. But seriously…who leaves that crap behind? It’s insane. I was laughing for quite a while.
What bothers me about this stuff is that it always throws off plans for the day. But today, it was just comical. We ate at Jason’s Deli for lunch, since I wanted a sandwich and we had never been there before. On our way out, I notice a woman with crutches and a wrapped knee. I could tell she was a real athlete, but from the back I couldn’t tell who it was. So, after we went outside I looked back and almost shit. It was Erika Arriaran! We watched her go down in the final minute of the Purdue game, so that was a bit crazy. I told Carrie to look at who it was, because I’m bad with faces, but it was definitely her. It’s her eyes, they’re quite distinctive. Anyway, she noticed us looking at her, and since I’m shy I looked away. Carrie didn’t and she said that Erika looked at her knee and gave a bit of a half smile. She knew what we were talking about. I guess we could have gone back in to say something, but I don’t want to interrupt people when they’re eating or trying to eat/shop. It’s rude.
I just looked up her injury and ESPN says it’s an ACL. What’s wierd is that she wasn’t in an imobilizer or anything, just a wrap with padding. That really sucks because she was looking real good in the last game. At least she’s still a sophomore and has 2 years to play after she rehabs from surgery.
Oh, so, as that happened, Holloway called, which is cool. We were able to make her feel better about her day by how crazy ours was. And, as she was on the phone I noticed that I locked my keys in my car! Hahaha, I never do that! Thankfully my window was broke, so Carrie could just barely reach the lock and get in the car. Who would have thought a broken window could be handy? lol Unfortunately she cut her finger on the glass, but she’s ok.
Anyway…after eating we got the window fixed at Safelite. They took less than 15 minutes, which was awesome! From there we headed slowly to San Marcos to hit the outlet malls. I was pretty disappointed in the selection at VF, where we buy our pants. I got one pair of nice pants though, real comfortable. Carrie got a few pairs of pants and some shirts, so that’s good. We also got a bunch of books at the book store that was going out of business. My big find was The Journey of Socrates by Dan Millman for only $2. I also got Angry Women of Rock 1, which I’ve read partly before but didn’t own.
Carrie got offered a job at the suit shop next door. If it wasn’t so close I’m sure she would have considered it. Lol, basically she knew a ton more walking in the door than the kid that worked there.
Just another hidden Carrie talent.
We spent a bit of money on food. We got almost 2 pounds of fudge at the Fudgery. Our friends will be eating fudge whenever they come over now lol I also lucked out and found my favorite maple candy at Cracker Barrel. That makes me super happy! Oh, and we both got chicken and dumplings at Cracker Barrel. Carrie said they taste just like her grandma’s, which makes her happy.
Our final awesome buy was at Sketchers. We managed to get four pairs of shoes for $125, which is cool. We now have plenty of shoes. Perhaps too many…but that’s ok. It’s good to have variety, and they’ll last a long time. If we’re going to be working in music we have to have some shoes that aren’t just running shoes or we’ll look like idiots. Image does count for something, it’s hard to deny that.
So, that was our crazy day. Seriously, I laughed the entire time I told my mom about it. I mean, what else can you do? And, I’m learning my lesson. This is my statement about car break-ins.
There will not be a next time.
