Carrie’s birthday

Today is Carrie’s birthday.  It started out rough, at least on my end.  I got woke up to the maintenance man who came to finally replace our garbage disposal.  Then we had to deal with the DMV, since Carrie’s drivers license expired today.  This shouldn’t have been complicated, but we seem to have lost her social security card, which means the scramble was on to get enough identification.  Shall I rant on about how annoyed I am that we need a million pieces of identification just to transfer over a driver’s license?  Anyway…I managed to forget her voter registration card, so we had to go back home.  I was pretty pissed, but started to talk about random stuff to Carrie which helped relieve some of the stress.  Then we joked around a bit while waiting so that by the time we left I was in a much better mood.

It seems like birthdays don’t work out so well this year.  I was really sick on my birthday, and we really don’t have the money to celebrate today.  So, I came up with a compromise.  We’re going to just pick a day to celebrate, kinda like presidents day.  It’s random birthday.  :-)   So, we’re going to go to the San Marcos outlet mall, where we’ll eat lunch at Cracker Barrel.  That night we’ll eat steak at Texas Roadhouse.  It should be good fun for us.  :-)

I sure hope Carrie feels loved today.  She’s been on the phone for much of it, thanks to all her friends and family calling.  She’s not the happiest about being 25, which is funny to me, but who knows.  I personally don’t feel like 25 is old, but I plan to live until I’m 125 or something lol  :-)

And last but not least, here’s to some birthday sex!  hahahaha

I have returned

It’s amazing that it takes so long to get back into the swing of things after a vacation. I mean, that’s what it’s there for, to rejuvenate and renew enthusiasm. That might be true if it didn’t involved a 30 hour train ride.

The trip home was overall quite good. We had fun hanging out with our nephew who is 3, and our godson who is 3 1/2. We also met my cousin’s son who is 2. Lots of kids makes for a good time. And while I look forward to having kids of our own some day, I don’t look forward to potty training. Maybe we can put in a request that they come to us housebroke? lol

Christmas itself was good as always. My family found some really neat antique type stuff for me. My dad gave me a really cool mushroom ornament. They also found an old Wonder Woman record where she helps Santa. I hope to listen to it once before keeping it framed for a while. I also got 2 Apollo 14 glasses from 71, which are really neat. To go with that is a glass with orange astronaut type people, not realistic but neat, and salt and pepper shakers in the vague shape of rockets. I also got this crazy ‘aunt’ mug. I’ll have to take pictures at some point, since it’s hard to describe.

One fun thing was helping my mom clean out her closet and get rid of clothes that don’t fit. It allowed her to find the old photo albums, which we had fun looking at. Carrie got to see pictures of me when I was a kid, and I think my dad really liked seeing the pictures too. Things have been hard for everyone lately, so it’s probably good to remember ‘better’ times. In the pictures was one of me and my cousin Jen when we were a few months old (we’re only 5 days apart in age). My mom said it just worked out that my aunt and uncle came over and we were both wearing yellow that day. I took the picture to walgreens to have it blown up to 4×6 and gave it to Jen. I also brought her chex mix, because I remembered how much she likes it too. I miss being able to talk to her, since we grew up pretty close, so it was nice to see her for the first time since her wedding around 3 years ago!

There’s so much more to talk about, but I think I’ll leave it for tomorrow. Basically I’ll let things come as I think of them, rather than try to do a marathon post. I hope everyone enjoyed at least part of their holidays!
