Blast from the past

It’s been an interesting two days, thanks to myspace. First, I received a friend request from someone named Olga. Well, I only know one Olga, and she’s rather old, definately not my age. So I scroll through the profile…Illinois, nope, don’t know many from there, and finally, at the bottom, there’s my clue: US Marines. So I send a message and ask if and how we know each other. Turns out, it’s someone I went to boot camp with. How exciting! So since yesterday, Periera and I have been messaging back and forth, sharing stories, remembering the good and the bad, just having a lot of fun. And we’re becoming fast friends. It’s interesting, because in boot camp, you usually only talk to a small group of people in your platoon. There’s so little free time, and usually that is spent taking a longer shower, or writing home, or reading letters from home, that you only get a short while with other people. I don’t know that I ever really talked to her in boot camp, but it turns out she’s a pretty neat person. I’m quite glad she found me on myspace.

The other myspace suprise was a random message from someone I went to high school with. For context, on myspace I only show my name as Jax. And since a person can search by high school graduation year, you can find people you went to school with but still not know exactly who they are. So this person emails me saying she didn’t remember me. But I had a hunch who she was, and said lets play the name game. We’ve also been messaging back and forth. We also weren’t friends at the time, though I know we had to have hung out casually at school or something, because I remember her name too much. But neither of us remembers when that would have been! Lol, we’re getting old. But we’ve discussed how petty people can be, which is why we don’t go to reunions. And like with Olga, we’re becomming friends. Basically, people who share aspects of a common past who don’t actually know each other. It’s pretty fun. :-)

So for some reason, my past is coming back, in a different manner. It’s quite fun, and very interesting. Sometimes myspace is very handy! :-)
