So this is why we do it, huh? Hours and days and months of work, and many a choice word directed at a computer, for that one day when you can actually make your advisor happy. It’s a bit scary that something so simple as finally getting a graph correct and putting it in front of your advisor can make all the difference in the world! And his excitement is so contagious, you can’t help but feel relieved and excited too.
Of course, that leaves me with another relatively large assignment (for one evening at least) to try to finish before he hops on a plane for the conference in Costa Rica (lucky!). I’m still quite exhausted, as I only got a few hours of sleep the past two nights. Hopefully things will go relatively smooth.
I had a revelation on the way home however. I’ve been stressed out and working my butt off for a while now, and today it’s just magically ok because things are looking good (aka, our theory is proven). I realized, this is why people stay in abusive relationships! Hahaha, graduate school is just one bad abusive relationship, with moments of clarity and excitement mixed in to keep you working. Thankfully, there is a definate ending point that doesn’t result in death (usually), but it was still funny. Made me laugh for a while…then again, I’m a bit ‘off’ without sleep.
So now, it’s back to work. I’ll try not to think about the fact that the Melissa Etheridge concert is in 24 hours!!!!!! Woohoo!!!!! Yep, that works…haha
work…time to work…
